70 years ago, we experienced the War and what it caused to us. At the end of the war, we were left with more than 80 cities totally devastated, but since then, we have kept moving forward to the reconstruction of the country. During the process of reconstruction, the World Exposition and the Olympic Games were held here, and we have also been through a massive economic boom. And now, it finally is the time that we can value the importance of our daily lives. Spiritually enriched life is the underpinnings of lifestyles, industries and economies. We live in Japan, the country with four distinctive seasons as well as traditional cultures and heritages still alive over the generations. It is the dream for everyone around the world to feel the joy of everyday lives with families and friends, surrounded by their favorite tableware, furniture, and comfortable space. A living space is also a platform for directing one’s life, decorated with amusing conversations, delicious meals, great music, atmospheric lighting, or foliage plants. I hope that the World Interiors Week 2016 will give us an opportunity to find the next step forward as we think about our living environment at home or public places, in addition to the nature, technology and harmony that underlie our daily lives.
